The Uppy Wrap Conversion Mei Tai is here! A mei tai is a traditional Chinese carrier from the Cantonese words mei meaning to carry on the shoulders and tai meaning a strap or band. Of course our version is not a traditional mei tai as we decided to give you a little padding in the straps and band for some cushioning as you wear your little one. We love wrapping but we know some people enjoy a little structure to their carrier so we wanted to add another option to our Uppy family so there would be something for everyone! Because we’re able to design the handwoven fabric ourselves we custom design it to make it work beautifully for our mei-tais. We’ll be designing them all with this beautiful chevron pattern and the little U on the back will change to match each design.
We recommend this carrier for babies around the 6 month mark and it will fit most children knee to knee until somewhere around two years. If you’re still comfortable at that point you can always spread the wrap straps to reinforce the base support. We hope you’ll be as excited about this new product as we are because we’re kind of freaking out about how great it is!
