Let’s talk about tightening the pass of fabric that is supporting your baby when you are tying Front Wrap Cross Carry. Take a minute to watch the video if you need a refresher.
When you get to this step in your wrap job, it helps to pay attention to your rails and tighten the rails first. Getting your fabric nice and tight at this point will make such a difference to your comfort when you are finished. The trick here is to avoid bringing the fabric over your shoulder and trying to tighten it by pulling forward. Doing so will cause the fabric to grip on your clothing and make tightening so much harder. Remember that you are tightening a horizontal pass of fabric, and you need to pull and tighten the fabric in the same direction.
The next step to really intricate wrapping is lifting your baby’s weight while you tighten up the bottom rail. It is still important here to avoid trying to pull the fabric forward over your shoulder.
We call this the cheerleader. Still preventing the fabric from gripping on your clothing pull and tighten both sides.
In Front Wrap Cross Carry, it really is this horizontal pass that is holding your baby. Taking the time to properly tighten this pass will hold your baby against your body and keep your baby’s weight off your shoulders as much as possible.
“Investing in babywearing and gentle, intuitive nurturing is essential to the development of your human infant’s future relationships. Your baby is literally learning to be gentle, intuitive and nurturing in his very cells today…and you thought you were just trying to get the laundry done.
Your job is important; you affect someones quality of life.” -Becky
